Valuation and Corporate Finance Associate

Located in Atlanta, Georgia, Applied Economics is a leading independent financial advisory firm specializing in corporate finance, business and intangible asset valuation, and litigation support. Our firm assists publicly-traded companies, privately-held middle market businesses, attorneys, certified public accountants, and private equity groups.

We are currently seeking an associate with a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance or accounting to join our team. Associates will actively assist in a variety of valuation and investment banking engagements, directly contributing to project deliverables and engaging with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth company, industry, and economic research
  • Perform financial analysis and other quantitative and qualitative assessments
  • Build and update financial models
  • Perform valuation and other financial analyses using discounted cash flow models, guideline public companies, guideline transaction data, and option pricing models
  • Prepare narrative reports supporting valuation analyses and opinions
  • Participating in client meetings
  • Serve on multiple client engagements under different managers
  • Create client marketing presentations
  • Draft memoranda for sale assignments
  • Assist in the preparation of fairness opinions
  • Create marketing materials for sell-side and capital-raise assignments
  • Research buyers and private equity investors and build out prospect lists
  • Maintain relationship-focus with clients, referral sources and colleagues, developing positive, productive, and professional relationships
  • Engage in continuing professional education and pursue applicable professional certifications

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project-management, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments while working independently or within a team
  • An exceptional work ethic
  • Internship or work experience in a professional services firm environment a plus
  • Minimal travel required

Position:

We are currently seeking a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance for a summer internship.   This is a paid position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in valuation, transfer pricing studies, and other financial advisory engagements.
  • Conduct economic, market, industry and company-specific research.
  • Build and update financial models.
  • Assist in preparation of comprehensive valuation and transfer pricing reports.
  • Create client marketing presentations
  • Draft memoranda for sale assignments
  • Assist in the preparation of fairness opinions
  • Create marketing materials for sell-side and capital-raise assignments
  • Research buyers and private equity investors and build out prospect lis
  • Assist with other general office administration as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BBA/Finance major entering senior year.  Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including analytical, project-management, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experienced with financial analysis and computer modeling is required. In-depth knowledge of Excel and Word required.
